AlesisのキーボードコントローラーQシリーズが一新し、改訂されたQ49 MKIIとQ88 MKIIに加え、32個のミニキーを搭載したQminiが登場しました。
Q49 MKIIとQ88 MKIIにはフルサイズの鍵盤とピッチ/モジュレーションホイールが搭載されています。
Q88 MKIIはUSBポートに加えて従来のMIDI出力も備えており、オプションの電源アダプターを使用してコンピュータなしでコントローラを使用することも可能です。49鍵モデルではDIN MIDI出力は廃止されています（前世代には搭載）。もう一つQ88 MKII専用の機能として、エクスプレッション・ペダル・ジャックを搭載しています。Q88 MKIIにはセミウエイト・キーが採用されていますが、他の2つのモデルにはシンセ・アクション・キーが採用されています。
それ以外の前世代からの改良点としては、トランスポートボタンとカーソルボタンが追加。これによりDAWの最も重要な機能をキーボードからコントロールすることができるようになりました。
百花繚乱のMIDI-USBキーボードコントローラーですが、ALESISのQシリーズといえばコンパクトでリーズナブルなモデルで人気を博してきましたが、今回久々の新製品登場です。中でも88鍵モデルのAlesis Q88 MKIIは、ソフトウェアやDAWのキー機能をコントロールするためのトランスポートボタンが新たに搭載され、MIDIレコーディング時に重宝しそうです。パッドやフェーダーのないシンプルなモデルですが、軽量でコンパクトな方が十分な方も多いでしょう。各モデルの価格帯が気になるところ。
